How Do You Catch It?

People normally develop tinea capitis once their head comes in contact somehow with the ringworm causing fungus known as dermatophytes. You can develop this infection by coming in direct contact with an infected item or person. Even your pet can pass on the fungus that results in the ringworm developing on your scalp region.

How To Prevent It

You can prevent ringworm on the scalp by avoiding using combs, brushes, hats, bedding materials, or head rests on seats that are not properly sterilized. Make sure your barber or hair stylist are using equipment that is properly cleaned and sterilized. Also keep your scalp as dry and clean as possible since ringworm likes warm and moist areas.

As soon as you are done washing your hair dry it as much as possible. If you tend to sweat a lot try your best to keep your scalp as dry as you can by removing excess moisture. To prevent yourself from catching the fungus once you treat it avoid passing it on to your pets or family members. You will have a harder time getting rid of the ringworm if you continue to expose yourself to it.
